Body Composition

What is a body composition study?

A body composition study examines the distribution of tissues (fat, muscle, bone) in the body. They serve to assess health, monitor changes, and guide treatment plans, offering benefits such as early disease detection.

You will be asked to remove any metal object, including jewellery and watches from your body but there is no pre procedural preparation.

The scan takes approximately 5-10 minutes.

You will lie down on a padded table, typically on your back.

The DEXA machine has an arm that contains the X-ray source and detector. This arm will pass over your body during the scan.

The images are analysed immediately following your scan and you are able to take these with you to your health provider.
