CT

CT stands for Computed Tomography and uses x-rays and digital computer technology to obtain cross-sectional imaging of the bones, blood vessels and soft tissues inside your body.

CT can be used to visualize nearly all parts of the body and is used to diagnose disease or injury as well as to plan treatment.

At North Shore Radiology we have top of the range CT scanners that utilise new technology to get radiation doses as low as possible.

New CT scanners also use technology called Dose Modulation, which, when combined with new AI technology can produce much lower radiation doses than older CT scanners.

During the CT scan, it’s important to remain still to ensure the image quality. Sometimes you will be asked to hold your breath briefly to ensure the images are as accurate as possible Overall it’s a safe and effective way for doctors to determine the best course of action for your health.
