X-Ray

An X-ray image is generated by passing a small amount of radiation through a specific part of the body. Different internal structures absorb radiation to varying degrees, resulting in the characteristic appearance of white for solid bone structures and grey for muscle areas in the X-ray image.
X-ray remains the most widely used form of medical imaging. To undergo an X-ray, a referral from a healthcare provider is usually necessary.
