Radiology

Our radiology services include:

  • MRI. Magnetic Resonance Imaging uses magnetic fields and specialised radio waves to produce images of all parts of the body MRI Brochure.
  • CT. Is computerised tomography (sometimes known as computerised axial tomography or CAT scan). This test involves obtaining detailed images of the body. The images are created by a computer linked to an x-ray machine.
  • Cardiac CT. uses x-rays to collect images of your heart which are then reconstructed to produce images of your coronary arteries. CCTA Brochure.
  • Ultrasound. This non-invasive test uses sound waves to create pictures of the tissues and internal organ. Particularly useful for imaging the abdomen, breast, eye, pelvis, scrotum, and thyroid
  • Doppler. A diagnostic tool using ultrasound to detect blood flow in arteries or veins.
  • Angiography. Is an x-ray examination using contrast dye to examine blood vessels in the body.
  • Mammogram. X-ray of the soft tissue of the breast.
  • Interventional. Is a variety of highly specialised procedures using imaging to guide needle and catheter placement.
  • Screening. Is real time x-rays and contrast liquids to examine parts of the body such as the digestive system and urinary tract.
  • X-ray. A form of electromagnetic radiation used to produce images.
  • OPG. An x-ray that shows upper/lower jaws and all the teeth. Available at Lane Cove Radiology only.
  • Bone Mineral Densitometry. Measurement of bone mineral density, usually for diagnosing osteoporosis. Available at Lane Cove Radiology only.
  • Nuclear Medicine. Radioactive isotopes are used to image bodily structures and functions. They can also be used to treat disease. For more information on Nuclear Medicine, click here.
