Modern technology in the best hands.

Nuclear Medicine
Nuclear Medicine is the field of medical imaging that uses minute quantities of radiopharmacaceuticals to diagnose and treat various diseases and conditions. Using tracers that show changes to the function of various organs, Nuclear Medicine studies can often show abnormalities much earlier than other forms of imaging, such as x-rays and CT scans.
Nuclear Medicine procedures are extremely safe and there is no risk to patients with previous histories of iodine contrast reactions or renal impairment. The radiation doses used are very low and comparable to many other diagnostic procedures used in medical imaging.
Our newest technology uses combined SPECT/CT imaging. This allows us to maximise the diagnostic accuracy of our studies by combining the unique functional information provided by Nuclear Medicine imaging with the excellent anatomical detail provided by multidetector CT technology using our special low radiation dose protocols.
We perform a wide variety of Nuclear Medicine studies at North Shore Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. For more information on some of our more commonly performed studies, please click on the links below:
