Dr. Timothy Harrington, MBBS FRANZCR
Dr. Timothy Harrington graduated from University of New South Wales with honours and undertook residency training at Prince of Wales Hospital. Tim trained in radiology at Royal North Shore Hospital and became a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR) in 1993.
Following a neuro-radiology fellowship at Royal Perth Hospital, Tim worked as a radiologist at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Perth. Tim was appointed as a staff specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital in 1994 and has been a clinical lecturer there since 1995.
Tim is an internationally known expert in neuro-interventional radiology. Tim has special interests in MRI spine and general interventional radiology.
Dr. Thao Vu, MBBS BSc (Med) FRANZCR
Dr. Thao Vu graduated from University of New South Wales with 1st Class Honours and completed 5 years of radiology training at The Prince of Wales and Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Following this, Thao spent 18 months in Canada at McMaster University Hospital as a radiology fellow in general MRI imaging and musculoskeletal imaging.
Thao has worked as a radiologist at North Shore Radiology and Royal North Shore Hospital since 2007. Thao has subspecialty expertise in paediatric and musculoskeletal radiology, and also has an interest in breast imaging.
Dr. Steven Blome, MB BS (Hons 1) FRANZCR
Dr. Steven Blome obtained his medical qualifications with 1st class honours from the University of Sydney and completed his residency at Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney. Steven trained in radiology at Royal North Shore Hospital, becoming a fellow of the College in 1986.
Steven has been the Director of Radiology at Royal North Shore Hospital since 1999 and is a foundation partner of North Shore Radiology.
Steven has always been closely involved in the education of young radiologist’s in the Department of Radiology at Royal North Shore Hospital, which has an enviable reputation in such training across the country.
Steven’s areas of expertise include abdominal (particularly hepato-biliary imaging) and imaging of the breast. Steven has been closely involved in MRI studies of all types at both Royal North Shore Hospital and North Shore Radiology since the mid 1980s, gaining extensive experience in this field.
Steven also has a particular interest in the humanistic aspects of diagnostic imaging and in the clear communication of medical results, both to referring clinicians and to patients.
Dr. Richard Perry, MB BS FRANZCR
Dr. Richard Perry joined North Shore Radiology in 2001. Richard graduated from the University of Sydney in 1983 and trained in radiology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney and was elected to the fellowship in 1990.
Richard has worked as a staff specialist at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Richard was a Director of Radiology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital from 1997 to 2000.
Richard is the Executive Manager for PRP Diagnostic Imaging Public Hospital Appointments and Services. Richard’s principal areas of interest include oncology imaging, head and neck imaging and MR imaging.
Dr. Richard Maher, MBBS BSc (Med) FRANZCR
Dr. Richard Maher is a managing partner of North Shore Radiology. Richard’s radiology training was performed at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, after completing his medical degree at University of New South Wales and Master of Science degree at Oxford University. Richard was awarded the prestigious HR Sear Prize for the Part 2 radiology examinations.
Richard has worked as a Staff Specialist Radiologist at Royal Prince Alfred prior to moving to the Royal North Shore Campus in 2006. Richard’s areas of subspecialty interest include general intervention in addition to thoracic, oncology, haematology and genitourinary imaging.
Dr. Phil Lucas, MB BS FRANZCR
Dr. Phil Lucas trained as an undergraduate at the University of Sydney, with residency and radiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital.
Phil completed a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University of Virginia, USA in 1996. Phil is a Clinical Lecturer in Sports Medicine at the University of NSW, as well as an Honorary Radiologist for the NSW Waratahs Super 14 Rugby, Australian Rugby, Manly Sea Eagles and the West Tigers Rugby League teams.
Phil joined North Shore Radiology in 1999 and has special interests in musculoskeletal ultrasound, MRI and image guided procedures. Phil is a partner in PRP Diagnostic Imaging.
Dr. Marian Roberts, MBBS (Hons) FRANZCR
Dr. Marian Roberts completed Radiology training in 1994.
Marian has worked at North Shore Radiology and Royal North Shore Hospital since 2001.
Marian has special interests in musculoskeletal imaging, especially hand and wrist and in breast imaging, including breast MRI. Marian is also involved in Breast Screen NSW since 1995.
Dr. Ken Faulder, MBBS FRANZCR
Dr. Ken Faulder completed his residency training at St Vincents Hospital, Sydney and then trained in radiology at Royal North Shore Hospital. Ken completed a fellowship in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at Mt Sinai Hospital, New York, specialising in the endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular diseases.
Ken helped plan and set up the North-West Interventional Neuroradiology network, providing cerebrovascular services at Westmead and Royal North Shore Public Hospitals, servicing approximately half the population of NSW.
Ken’s areas of special interest include endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms, carotid artery stenting and management of cerebral arteriovenous malformations.
Dr. James Christie, MB BS FRANZCR
Dr. James Christie trained at Westmead Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children in Sydney and The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.
James was awarded the HR Sear Prize for the Part 2 radiology examinations.
James is a partner for PRP Diagnostic Imaging and also holds a part-time staff specialist position in radiology at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead.
James has special interests in foetal MRI, paediatric imaging and body MRI.
Dr. Greg Briggs, MBBS FRCR
Dr. Greg Briggs graduated from the University of Sydney with honours. Greg’s internship was at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital in Perth, Western Australia, followed by further residency at Hammersmith Hospital in London (UK).
Greg had radiology training at St Thomas hospital, London, graduating with fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists. Greg is a senior lecturer in radiology at Sydney University and has co-authored 18 radiological publications. His award winning “Pocket Guide to Chest X-Rays” is in its second edition.
Greg’s main interests are chest radiology and general interventional procedures.
Dr. Georgina Mann, BSC (Med) MBBS (Hons) FRANZCR
Dr. Georgina Mann graduated from the University of NSW with 1st class honours and undertook her residency training at Concord Hospital. Georgina trained in radiology at Westmead and Royal North Shore Hospital. Following a year at St Vincent’s Hospital, Georgina returned to Royal North Shore Hospital, where she works as a staff specialist.
Georgina joined North Shore Radiology in 2005. Georgina’s areas of interest are gastro-intestinal (GI) (in particular the liver and body imaging), as well as breast and women’s imaging. Georgina is Breast Screen accredited.
Dr. Diarmuid O’Driscoll, DMRD FRCR
Dr. Diarmuid O’Driscoll completed undergraduate medical training in Galway, Ireland, at the University College Medical School. Diarmuid undertook radiology registrar training at the University College Hospital London. He was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Radiologists in 1983 and has worked as a staff specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital since 1986.
Diarmuid joined North Shore Radiology in 1987 and has special expertise in renal and urological imaging and is Breast Screen accredited. Diarmuid is a teacher with the University of Sydney.
Dr. David Brazier, MBBS FRANZCR
Dr. David Brazier completed radiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital and St. George Hospital, following his graduation from university with honours. David has worked as a radiologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital campus since 1983.
David is an examiner for the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiology (RANZCR) and has a wealth of teaching and clinical expertise.
David is the head of the MRI unit at Royal North Shore Hospital. David has extensive diagnostic and interventional radiology expertise, as well as subspecialty expertise in neuro-radiology and an interest in cardiac CT.
Associate Professor Bruno Giuffre, FRANZCR
Associate Professor Bruno Giuffre graduated from University of NSW with 1st class honours. Bruno has worked as a radiologist at Royal North Shore Hospital since completing his fellowship in 1986.
Associate Professor Bruno Giuffre has a broad experience in breast imaging and musculoskeletal imaging. Bruno has extensive clinical and research interests in these areas. Bruno is involved in multiple teaching programs for radiologists, other clinicians, medical students and radiographers through his appointments at Royal North Shore Hospital, North Shore Private Hospital, Breast Screen NSW and the University of Sydney.
Dr. Brendan Steinfort, MBBS FRANZCR
Dr. Brendan Steinfort completed radiology training at Royal North Shore Hospital and went on to be the inugral interventional neuro-radiology fellow of Royal North Shore Hospital. Subsequent to this, Brendan undertook a second fellowship at The National Hospital of Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queens Square London, in diagnostic neuro-radiology and interventional neuro-radiology.
Brendan has worked as a radiologist on the Royal North Shore campus since 2006. Brendan is a senior lecturer for the medical faculty in neuro-radiology at UWS.
Brendan is a national and international lecturer on advanced aspects of interventional neuro-radiology.
Brendan is part of the North-West Interventional Neuroradiology network, providing cerebrovascular services for Westmead and Royal North Shore Hospitals.
Brendan has subspeciality expertise in neuro-radiology, interventional neuro-radiology and general interventional radiology. Brendan has a special interest in neurovascular disease including: cerebral anerysm, AVM and dAVF embolisation, intracranial stenting and internal carotid artery stenting.
Dr. Anne Miller, MBBS (Hons) FRANZCR
Dr. Anne Miller is a managing partner of North Shore Radiology. Anne graduated from University of Sydney with honours, undertook residency training at St George Hospital and trained in radiology at Royal North Shore Hospital. Anne was awarded the prestigious HR Sear prize for the Part 2 radiology examinations.
Anne works as a staff specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital and joined North Shore Radiology in 2005. Anne has special interests in chest and body imaging, especially gynaecological-onocology and breast imaging, including breast MRI. Anne is Breast Screen accredited.
